There’s been a great deal of controversy relating to a recent policy change within the Church. A lot of people have had trouble dealing with it, and others haven’t cared too much. In either case, we can talk about it and don’t have to ignore it.
Also, FAIR Mormon provides some insights well worth reading, here.
I wanted to throw in a few insights I think a lot of people overlook. We have to realize that these issues will be dealt with by leaders in the Church. Namely Bishops, Steak Presidents and Mission Presidents. The leaders of the Church will communicate this information in the most loving, kind and understanding way possible.
My second note is about children from polygamous parents. Daniel Peterson, mentioned above, dealt with a case as a bishop with a girl who was the daughter of polygamous parents who wanted to join the Church. She was very strong and had to deal with a lot of similar issues. The story to that can be found in a link provided above.
Another note is that the leaders did not claim any divine revelation on this subject as far as I can tell. But I’m sure they put a lot of thought into this and discussed it openly as a quorum. I trust their decision is the best suited for the context of our time and some of the animosity build up that has been prevalent.
I hope readers will take the time to read through some of the blogs linked above and ponder on this scripture.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
